Commander System Interface Suggestion

Hi devs,

I wanted to suggest a new way to interface the commander system. The current commander system is a pop up menu when you either enter the circles on the ship or when you access it through your powers after becoming commander. The pop up menus are slow to access because they have a delay everytime you click on something, a new "pop up" occurs. It would be faster and less glitchy if instead of a pop up menu, spell icons could be used instead. Placing the commander menus as icons in your lower right powers (where your spells normally are).

The delay only happens when there is lag/delay, when there is none they are instant. To everything you have said I agree. I think they will be using that style next vers and I know that they will be making many improvements to it at the very least.

kevvin we already had a talk about htis on another way to avoid using teh pup up and it ended up in... well... fail...

the idea is good but i cannot see it working since the cooldown for the researches changes from lvl to lvl. although if it worked it would be great to avoid those pop up (i also hate then lol) and we could use hotkeys (faster to do it)
to be honest if i didnt used the autoresearch i would take profession as "commander" and not one of the "real" professions since comamnding and manually research + -stats all of the time its by itself mroe time consuming than anything else on the map.

another sugestion i would make was to put the "circle of power" options also on the commander options. i dont see what is the reason for me to be forced to go to the battleship just to change the tax rate or the research prioritys.

arel mentioned that "commanding" is an own profession in 1.37.
let's wait till it is released and talk about it again (then)

about the "circle of power"-options:
i said exactly the same, but a month ago or so.
EDIT: i don't remember the answer exactly, nor can i find it. it wasn't by someone of the mapper. but i know that the answer sounded pretty stupid for me xD
maybe it's bc i feel the same way as you.

I play this on LAN somtimes, it's not instant even on LAN.

I have seen it done in other maps. Also, a good example that it's possible and is already done in this map is if you look at the marine upgrades...each time you upgrade, it changes icon meaning it's a different upgrade. You can set different research times for each upgrade.


I feel the "menu icons" that the map currently has is its own unique style. My only gripe with it is the "pop down" and "pop up" effects. Maybe it doesn't have to pop up or pop down when you want to do something. Take for example the warcraft 3 menu: if you click Menu and anything in there, such as Pause or Options, it's instantaneous; no popping effect.

can you add a command to see researchs levels?
something like the -stats command in 1.360
its could be very usefull for autosearching commanders like me :D
